Winemaker -dinner w/ Kühling-Gillot & Simon Guiot 10.5.

We are celebrating German wine weeks 10.5-12.6.2022! Simon Guiot, Export Manager at Battenfeld-Spanier and Kühling-Gillot, will host a winemaker dinner on Tuesday 10th of May at Sushibar+Wine Posthallen.

During the dinner are enjoying four-course menu with 8 different wines and Simon tells us stories behind their wines. We are focusing and comparing Rieslings from Entry level, Erste Lage and Grosses Gewächs (different wine classifications) production of Battenfeld-Spanier& Kühling-Gillot.

Hans Oliver took over the parental vineyard in the Hohen-Hülzen in Rhineland-Palatinate in 1991 while he was 20 years old. Caroline took over her parents winery in 2002. Nowadays they run together the two wineries Battenfeld-Spanier and Kühling-Gillot.Both wineries are producing high level organic wines and both with its own authenticity. The vineyards itself are on different locations so also the soils are different.

Kühling-Gillot covers vineyards like the Rothenberg, Pettenthal and the Hipping with lots of red slate. Battenfeld-Spanier covers vineyards like the Frauenberg and Herrgott – with limestone soil.Together, the pair revolutionized how Rheinhessen perceived their wines, making bright clear white wines full of mineral velvet and rich bouquets of flavor. Also the transition to biodynamic was revolutionary for this wineregion.

NOITA WINERY DINNER, HOSTED BY WINEMAKER SIMON MCCABE on Thursday 25.11 at 18.30

Noita winery is the first Finnish urban winery, located in the beautiful old ironworks village of Fiskars just an hour away from the capital city, Helsinki. The winery produces natural wines with low intervention and native yeasts, without any filtration or fining and little to no added sulphite. The wines are made with hand-harvested, organic Burgenland greapes.

Our first winemaker dinner in Oslo is organized at Sushibar+Wine Posthallen and for this special event we decided to go back to our roots and collaborate with a winery from our first home country, where our journey began in 2009.

Noita winery winemaker Simon McCabe will introduce us 4 to 5 wines from the latest vintage and the wines are served with a 4 course sushi menu.

Menu price with wines and sushi is 950NOK.

NEW SEASON SPECIAL: Spicy tuna avocado bowl with spicy goma sauce🥑🍃 We are celebrating Tunaful Weeks 20.9-3.10 with MSC Finland both in Helsinki and Oslo ❤️

Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) have worked hard to raise awareness on sustainable tuna and now they are joining forces with us and two other Nordic restaurants who serve only MSC certified tuna. Tunaful Weeks aims to highlight that it is alright to eat tuna, as long as it is certified sustainable.

Overfishing has not only driven some species of tuna close to extinction, but it also poses a serious threat to marine environments and jobs on a global scale. With their blue label, MSC wants to remind people that not all tuna is bad, and it is easy to make a sustainable choice.

To earn the MSC label fisheries must meet a strict science-based set of requirements for sustainable fishing. Fisheries are assessed by accredited independent certifiers, which is the most credible way to ensure that MSC certified tuna truly is wild, traceable and sustainable. When a consumer chooses a MSC labelled product they can be sure that their choice supports well-managed, sustainable fisheries.
